Needle Masters Monthly SAL

So Me and Mom were talking yesterday and came up with this awesome idea for a monthly SAL for needle workers of all types. I will be mixing in quite a few different styles through the year since my mind changes just about daily on what I want to work on.

The supply list and rules for the SAL will be posted at a later date with the start date being 1/1/13. I encourage anyone to join in on the fun as there will be a drawing at the end for a very hefty prize!!!

Just to give you an idea of what will be going on...

Every month you will make one page to add to your "journal" beginning with the cover and first page due by the end of January. This journal of your needlework may incorporate ANY kind of needle work., Including but not limited to..

Cross Stitch
Crochet
Knitting
Canvas
Needlepoint
Petite Point
Hardanger
Pulled Thread
Bobbin Lace
Tatting
Quilting
Mixed Media
And of course those Fiber Artists out there..

Each month you can pick a theme or designer to showcase or kind of needlework. It is solely up to you. However to be included in the drawing you must complete ALL 12 months of pages. Sending in a photo to the main blog is required monthly.

Basically you are creating a sample book of your needle work. We will post instructions on how to construct the basic book but as far as decorating the pages that will be up to you.

Hopsalots - Finished

I recently got back into knitting and for those out there that can do more than one kind of needlework I am sure you find yourself torn between types of projects to work on. I am currently designing a blanket to eat up all the left overs from a previous project and I am loving the results so far but ai needed the needles that were in use for my Madge and Padge slippers. When I was younger I had a pair of pink bunny slippers which I named Madge and Padge. I must have had them for at least 5 years and I am pretty sure they are dust bunnies now under furnature at Moms house that will eventually turn up one the these days. So in honor of those favorite childhood slippers I just had to knit up these guiys and finish them to reclaim my needles!

They are felted out of Debbie Stroller Stitch Nation Full O' Sheep, In color Peony. The original Madge and Padge were not quite this bright and way more stuffed but alas these are super cute and warm! The yarn just did not want to felt for me in fact I had to put it in the washer three times to get them to the right size and I have big feet! it was my first fitted felted project so the fact that they fit at all is a blessing! The pattern is available on Ravelry and it's called Hopsalots just in case anyone else is up for a quick and fun project!

In Progress- 80 Stitches

 I know it's been a long time since I posted anything but It's been a little crazy in Colorado for us lately..

 I've only finished the first heart, so half of the first part is done. I really like the fished product but the stitching instructions gave me some trouble at first so I decided to split it up and do each section at a time.....

And of course my son Dakota at his Continuation today with his buddy Carson....Carson on the left and Dakota on the right. They are continuing from 6th grade into Middle School this year! 

It's been a month!

Yes a whole month since I posted here! I really haven't done much lately, we've finished moving and I have been working on a few doilies since our new place is very tiny on space. Crochet is the best option when short on space. So here is the first finished doily I made. Done with DMC traditions in White and Ecru.
